Vermont Custom Handrails and Metalwork LLC was founded in 2016 out of James Lambert's love for metal design and fabrication. With more than 15 years of experience as a TIG and MIG welder, the love for creating unique products and providing traditional metal fabrication services to a wide range of businesses and individuals throughout northern Vermont, has culminated into the development and blossoming of Vermont Custom Handrails and Metalwork, formerly known as Metal Design and Fabrication by James Lambert.
James prides himself on designing custom staircase railings and stair systems carefully tailored to the uniqueness of the space they are occupying as well as the design and fabrication of a plethora of other custom metal projects, many of which are one off creations right out of his shop in Morrisville, VT. We support Vermont deck railing code requirements and Vermont building codes, and will ensure your handrail meets Vermont's code standards.

We specialize in custom steel staircase railings and handrails. We pride ourselves on creating unique one of a kind handrails. We do complete design, fabrication and installation of handrails for residential and commercial purposes. We offer design of custom business accents tailored to fit the flow and attributes of your home or business. We work with qualified engineers to properly design what your business logo would look like on a stainless steel sign and fabricate the sign to the closest possible representation of your business logo.
We specialize in the design and manufacture of “Offset” Style Wood Fired BBQ Smokers. Our BBQ smokers are exceptional at smoking a juicy, tender cut of meat. We can achieve a ¼” and more thick “smoke line” on briskets smoked in our custom smokers.
Our BBQ Smokers are mostly made from recycled cylinders such as propane tanks and stainless steel maple sugaring barrels. We can fabricate trailers for them and have them be towable on public roadways or be towable for off road use. We build everything in house and manufacture it all by hand. We use the latest design software to create your custom smoker.
