15+ years of metal work experience

Vermont Custom Handrails and Metalwork is the creation of James Lambert, a native of Vermont and a passionate TIG and MIG welder, metal fabricator and design engineer since his teen years. James began welding in his dad’s garage in Milton, VT at the age of 15 and graduated from Burlington Technical Center with a certification in Welding and Metal Fabrication in 2007. He landed his first job as TIG welder at  Blodgett Oven Company when he was in 11th grade. After working in fast paced production manufacturing for 7 years, he left Blodgett in 2012 to explore the great wide expanse of opportunity in his local area. Working for a construction company and at the local quarry a stick and MIG welder on heavy equipment, James got a real taste of what it meant to weld on all types of equipment in a variety of circumstances and weather conditions. In 2014, after a year or so welding on heavy equipment and dirty greasy quarry machinery, James opted back into TIG welding for a local company working in the packaging automation industry building food grade and sanitary food processing equipment. A year after, during 2014 and 2015 James did his first job installing stainless steel plumbing and manifolds for Green Mountain Mainlines Maple Sugaring Facility in Fairfield VT (see photos here). It was this gig that inspired the creation of what would be first called “Precision Welding and Metal Services” and a Facebook page was established in January 2016. After steadily growing and building a small customer base through referrals, James decided to spruce up the Facebook page and change the name of the business to “Metal Design and Fabrication by James Lambert” for the new year of 2020. Now, in 2021, what was for long an unincorporated sole proprietor is now a formal business entity “Vermont Custom Handrails and Metalwork LLC”. 2020 was a tremendous year and we look forward to many great years to come, all thanks to the fantastic community in Vermont and the many upstanding folks who have encouraged and inspired us to continually build this business. We firmly believe that supporting local is the best way to ensure everyone is successful and happy, and attribute much of our success to the community that has been here to support us.

Thank you for all your support. We look forward to working with new and existing customers alike.

Sincerely,

James Lambert
