WHY CUSTOM

Cable Railings That Look Like They Were Always There

Cable railing kits are ordered in standard sizes, made with cheaper steel and screwed together on site. Stairs are unique to every house, so kits rarely fit cleanly, and we have replaced kit railings that were not installed correctly.

We measure your space and drill every post in our Hyde Park, VT shop. Then we weld the posts to a metal top rail on site, so each post is continuous, and install every cable individually. The result fits your stairs like it was always there.

Built for your space Measured and made for your stairs, not a kit.

FAQ

Interior Cable Railing Questions

  • Why not use a cable railing kit?

Kits are ordered in standard sizes, use cheaper steel and are screwed together on site. Every staircase is different, so kits rarely fit cleanly. We measure your space, weld the posts to a metal top rail and install each cable individually.

  • How is your cable railing different from a kit?

Kits are a standard system ordered in fixed sizes. Ours is measured for your space, the posts are welded to a metal top rail on site, and every cable is installed individually, so it fits your stairs the way a kit can’t.

  • What is a beverage cap?

A beverage cap is a wider wood shelf, around 4 inches, on top of the railing so you have room to set a drink. A standard wood cap is slimmer, about an inch and a half.

  • What wood can I choose for the cap?

White oak and pine are the most common, but we can use almost any reasonable wood. Most clients match the cap to their flooring.

  • What colors can the metal be?

Flat black is our most popular finish. We can also paint the metal a custom color to match your space.

  • Black or stainless cable?

Black cable fades into the background and keeps the focus on the view. Stainless gives a bright, modern line.

  • Is cable railing safe and up to code indoors?

Yes. Every railing is designed to meet IRC and local requirements for height, cable spacing and load in Vermont and New Hampshire.

  • Do you install in New Hampshire?

Yes. We install across Vermont and in New Hampshire. Every railing is built by our Vermont team.
